October Fun

In the last few weeks we've settled into baby life; we're feeling a little more normal as parents, a little more confident, and less intimidated to leave the house, which has been great. Ella is easy to take around so far. She sleeps a lot in her little carseat and loves to be held by family and friends.

Ella is growing every day. People keep telling us, "She's just so small!" While we know she's a little baby, she feels big to us already-- knowing what it was like to hold her just a few weeks ago. At her 4-week appointment she weighed in at 9 lbs. 3 oz., and measured 21.25 inches long. That put her in the 50th percentile for both weight and height. Her head, on the other hand, measured in the 97th percentile. A sign of a big brain, for sure :)

She's become so much more alert, checking out her surroundings and those holding her pretty intently. Just this week she started smiling, and it melts our hearts every time! Seeing her smile is pure happiness.

One Month

Happy One Month Birthday Ella!

One month ago today, I went to the hospital so ready to meet our daughter,
I was anxious, scared, and excited,
I held Chris's hand as we heard her first cry.
One month ago today, we announced Ella's name for the very first time.

One month ago today I watched Chris become a father,
I watched my family become grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, and uncles,
I was surrounded in a hospital room with more love than I'd felt before.
One month ago today, I became a mom.

I can't imagine life without her, and it's only been one month.

Family Firsts

We've been lucky to be hanging out as a family of 4 for the past 2 1/2 weeks (can't leave Jackson out), and we'll be missing Chris next week when he heads back to work. Our time has seemed to go quickly with lots of visitors, lots of learning, and special "firsts" with Ella. It's been exhausting and amazing all at once. We wouldn't trade it for anything.
